KI Receives SCS Recycled Material Certification for Four Key Products
Four of our products have achieved SCS Recycled Material Certification, positioning us ahead of the curve in the global commercial furniture sector. Hatton Chairs, Hatton Stools, Postura+ One Piece Stools and Sutton Chairs have been independently verified as containing 30% post-consumer recycled material within their polypropylene and glass-fibre blend, reinforcing KI’s ethos to design furniture that contributes towards a more sustainable future.
The SCS Recycled Material Certification is a third-party certification programme that verifies the percentage of recycled material by weight within a specific material used in a product. Certification under the SCS Recycled Content Standard (SCS-103) confirms that the recycled polypropylene and glass-fibre blend used in these products has undergone rigorous assessment and evaluation to validate recycled material claims, supporting resource conservation and waste reduction throughout manufacturing.
As well as using recycled polypropylene, our Hatton Chairs, Hatton Stools, Postura+ One Piece Stools and Sutton Chairs are PP-marked and fully recyclable at end of life, supporting circular design principles. Designed for durability in high‑traffic environments, they are backed by industry‑leading warranties – 20 years for Sutton Chairs and Postura+ One Piece Stools, 10 years for Hatton Stools, and 5 years for Hatton Chairs – helping to reduce the need for regular replacement.
With us receiving the SCS Recycled Material Certification, it qualifies these products for sustainable procurement programmes and industry rating systems such as LEED. With certified claims also being a crucial building block of a sustainable supply chain, we reaffirm our commitment to sourcing the finest materials and tools, enabling expertly engineered manufacturing of products.
On top of the SCS Recycled Material Certification, our best-selling Postura+ One Piece classroom chairs, containing 50% recycled polypropylene, are verified separately through its third-party verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).
