At KI, we design furniture that balances enduring style with contemporary functionality. Our latest launch, the Sutton chair, is a perfect example – a modern interpretation of the classic mid-century school chair, thoughtfully reimagined to meet the evolving needs of today’s spaces.
A Design Rooted in Heritage, Built for the Future
Sutton draws inspiration from the familiar silhouette of the traditional mixed-material classroom chair, reimagined through a modern lens. Manufactured in the UK using advanced injection-moulding techniques, it is formed from a single piece of high-impact resistant, glass-filled polypropylene. This not only gives it a clean, minimalist aesthetic but also ensures exceptional strength and durability, as backed by a 20-year structural warranty.
A Trend and Community Inspired Colour Palette
Sutton is available in a carefully curated range of colours: classic Iron Grey as well asDenim, Latte, and Terracotta, as selected by trend forecasters Scarlet Opus. Following a vote at Clerkenwell Design Week, we’re also excited to introduce Lagoon, a teal-green tone that emerged as the clear favourite among visiting architects and designers.
Versatile and Practical for all Spaces
Designed with versatility at its core, Sutton is ideal for a wide range of environments, from offices and hospitality settings to student accommodation and inspiring learning spaces. Its stain-resistant, antistatic, and easy-to-clean surface makes it particularly well-suited to high-traffic areas such as cafés, canteens, breakout zones, and sixth-form colleges. A built-in UV filter also allows for occasional outdoor use.
Available in two sizes, size 5 (430mm seat height) and size 6 (460mm seat height), Sutton can be stacked up to six high on the floor and on a trolley, making it a practical choice for flexible spaces.

While its form is simple, Sutton is designed with user comfort in mind. Features such as a waterfall seat edge, curved backrest, and flexible frame support natural posture and movement, making it comfortable for extended use across a variety of settings.
