Opened on 22 June 2018, Japan House London offers visitors a unique immersion in to Japan’s rich culture, art, design, cuisine and technology. Located on Kensington High Street, this revitalised art deco building spans three floors and joins the global initiative led by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, alongside Japan Houses in Los Angeles and Sao Paolo. Japan House London aims to showcase the best of Japan, moving beyond stereotypes. Visitors can explore a restaurant, auditorium, library, retail space, temporary exhibition gallery, and events facilities. The venue hosts a vibrant calendar of events, from architectre to floral design, gastronomy to performing arts, all set against crisp, minimalist interiors. Almost every aspect of Japan House London has been sourced directly from Japan, providing an authentic and captivating experience.
Our Solution
KI’s Opt4 high-density stacking chairs were the perfect addition to Japan House London’s multifunctional space and library. Designed by Taku Kumazawa and made in Japan from 85-100% recycled materials, these chairs are not only elegant but also highly functional. Weighing just 4.5kg each, they are easy to move, link together in rows, and stack when not in use, making them ideal for the lower ground floor’s auditorium space. These versatile and eco-friendly chairs enhance the flexibility and sustainability of Japan House London’s interior design.
