British Airways

The Brief

British Airways’ innovative Waterside headquarters features over 5,000 units of KI’s 800 Series lateral filing and storage system. Recognising the critical importance of efficient filing, storage, and retrieval, British Airways conducted an extensive survey to ensure their new system would support swift and accurate information access. This focus on optimised storage solutions was essential for maintaining a competitive edge in a fast-paced industry.

We need a filing & storage system that will cope with all types of document in a shared working environment. Hanging files and box files, of course, but also video cassettes, disks and portfolios for example. KI’s solution is flexible, allowing us to meet our current and future needs despite space constraints and the wide variety (and sizes) of media that we use.

Our Solution

British Airways thoroughly evaluated KI’s capabilities before placing an initial order for over 5,000 units. KI’s 800 Series met all criteria with success, showcasing unrivaled engineering and advanced monocoque build. The system’s ‘clip-fit’ components allow for rapid reconfiguration, and fully loaded cabinets can be easily moved, a vital feature for British Airways. The customer-driven TQM approach, which facilitated direct communication between British Airways’ team and KI manufacturing staff, played a significant role in the final decision to select KI’s storage solutions.

In a sense, the KI filing and storage system is a manifestation of our business analysis. We knew change would happen, so we looked for a filing and storage system which could accept all options within a standard format.
