O’Donnell + Tuomey Architects win Building of the Year at Icon Awards 2014

December 5, 2014

icon-awards-2014-website.jpgKI Europe were delighted to sponsor the 'Building of the Year' at last night's Icon Awards. The award was taken out by O'Donnell + Tuomey for their Saw Swee Hock Student Centre at the London School of Economics. Sheila O'Donnell and John Tuomey were on hand to receive the award from Jonathan Hindle, KI Europe's Managing Director, in front of a lively crowd at the awards ceremony hosted at St Mary’s Church, Marylebone. Their building's twisted, folding brick facade is a striking addition to the area, perfectly rising to the challenges of its location just off the historic Lincoln's Inn Fields. The shortlist for the award consisted of some of the world's most fascinating recent projects, including:

- Aspen Art Museum, Colorado, USA. By Shigeru Ban Architects
- Danish Maritime Museum, Helsingor, Denmark. By Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG)
- Frac Nord-Pas de Calais, Dunkirk, France. By Lacaton & Vassal
- Museo Jumex, Mexico City, Mexico. By David Chipperfield Architects
