Cadbury Bournville

Bournville, Birmingham

The Brief

Cadbury's heritage office in Bournville, Birmingham required storage and meeting furniture solutions that would complement the colours of their products and brands.

Cadbury underwent a big cultural change with this move – bringing together various aspects of the business from multiple building and floors to work in a much more collaborative way. Effective and flexible storage was the key to facilitating this process and KI were brilliant to work with; taking into account both Cadbury’s functional requirements and our (complex!) aesthetic ones!

Our Solution

Maestro stacking chairs - In the restaurant 300 of KI’s Maestro chairs have been installed in a specific palette of Pantone colours to complement Cadbury's citrus liquid colours of Lemon Yellow, Orange and Lime Green. Maestro can be stacked to a height of 38 on a mobile dolly. This means that Cadbury can use the chairs quickly and flexibly for varied occasions..

700 Series storage (now known as 800 Series) - KI's 700 Series lateral storage units installed throughout the offices, were specified at 1075mm high to match desk mounted screen heights at the same time as providing three rows of A4 filing. The handle detail and colours on the drawers and doors were also customised to complement the existing workstation aesthetic. The tops of the 700 Series storage units are either pale blue or mushroom laminate to give a fresh atmosphere and veneer to differentiate between areas. This is a fine example of the flexibility of the filing and storage systems that KI provides.

There was a rigorous tender process and we have a strong commitment to environmental issues and carbon footprints. We were very impressed that KI are one of the few storage companies to offer a lifetime guarantee and have a rigorous environmental policy. They have a sound economic awareness and even source energy from local hydro-electric power stations, which means that their storage factory receives electricity that is 100% carbon free.
