KI Europe joins furniture sustainability scheme

September 19, 2014

KI Europe has achieved full membership of an internationally recognised sustainability scheme following a thorough audit.

KI Europe has joined the Furniture Industry Sustainability Programme (FISP). To achieve membership an organisation must demonstrate its commitment to managing and improving sustainability.

FISP, which is audited by FIRA International, the furniture industry experts, was launched in 2006 to support and promote sustainable development in the furniture industry.

James Bell, FIRA’s Environmental Consultant, said: “We are really pleased that KI Europe has achieved FISP certification by showing that sustainable development is at the core of its business ethos and is taking its environmental and corporate social responsibility obligations seriously. FISP not only focuses on environmental issues, but also social and community issues. We look forward to working alongside them in the future.

Colin McCourt, Supply Chain and Operations Manager at KI Europe, (pictured below) said: “Being independently assessed and achieving FISP membership helps us to demonstrate our commitment to sustainability – something our customers increasingly expect.”

FISP focuses on a variety of sustainability issues across a company including purchasing, end of life management, transportation, waste and energy management. Membership is reviewed on an annual basis and members are required to demonstrate their commitment to managing and improving sustainability. FISP has over 75 members internationally, including Sealy UK, Magnet, Herman Miller, Sleepeeze and Hands of Wycombe.
