New £4.5m Idea Store in Watney Market provides vibrant mixed space for local community
The project
The flagship Idea Store in Whitechapel, designed by David Adjaye, is a revolutionary re-think of the traditional library. In total there are seven Idea Stores within the Tower Hamlets Borough, London. Idea Stores are more than just a library or a place for learning. As well as library services, they offer a wide range of adult learning courses alongside extensive activities and events programme.
The Watney Market Idea Store designed by Bisset Adams is a bright, colourful space, natural light from huge windows combined with bright lights from the exposed ceiling creates a spacious and open feel. There are various collaborative areas with furniture to match the interior colour scheme.
